
GSG RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE
LOCATION: RICHMOND, CA
Sundays only for an easy time commitment!
We are accepting players of all skill levels! This is a fun recreational league for players ages 7 through 14 years old. Each player will be evaluated and placed on a team in their appropriate age division. From beginner level to the more experienced players, we have a spot for everyone in our youth basketball league! We will be developing basketball skills, but more importantly we will be focused on making sure that the kids have FUN!!!
Mandatory Evaluation Day will be on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
We conduct player evaluations to be able to balance skills and experience distribution between the teams to promote a fair and competitive environment.
Evaluations in week 1 are mandatory. This will allow us to create evenly matched teams.
Registration closes on September 21, 2025 or until the league is full.
League play will begin on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Ends on November 16, 2025.

**includes annual Youth Club membership fee for full access to the Youth Club year-round and the opportunity to join other activities.
As an added benefit to joining the league, players will have access to the Youth Club all year round as it includes an annual membership! Players can also take advantage of the Youth Club’s programs for a year. Weekly activities include basketball, baseball, football, karate, DIY Stem, art, drama and much more!

Come cheer on your favorite teams—no spectator fees are required for regular season games! We love the energy fans bring to the sidelines. Please note, however, that a nominal spectator fee will apply during playoff weekends to help support league operations. We appreciate your understanding and continued support!

Complete the form below to register a player and send payment for the Rec League at the West County Salesian Youth Club.
Step 2:
If you are a non-Youth Club Member please complete the Youth Club Membership Form. If you are already a current member, you can skip to step 3.
Step 3:
Bring your player to the West County Salesian Youth Club on evaluation day:
Step 4:
You will be contacted as to which team your player will be placed on. Details of practice times and games will be communicated to you.

EVALUATION DAY

Evaluations for players in the 3rd/4th grade:

Evaluations for players in the 7th/8th grade:

All players should arrive at their scheduled times for evaluations. After the evaluations, the coaches in each division will draft players to create evenly matched teams. Once teams are finalized, your coach will reach out with more details (practices/game times). League games to start on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Player/team requests, but they are not guaranteed. Our priority is to create balanced teams to ensure fair and competitive play. This is a great opportunity for players to make new friends while also competing against familiar faces!

GAME RULES:
o 8 minute quarters
o All Play Rule - Every player must play in at least two full quarters.
Substitutions between quarters are only allowed in cases of injury or significant fatigue.
o Recommended substitutions at the 4:00 mark of the 4th quarter
o Timeouts- 2 per half (Timeouts do not carry over)
o Overtime- 1st OT 2:00 (stop clock). 1 full timeout.
o 2nd OT sudden death (no timeout in sudden death).
o No shot clock but 10 second back court violation.
o Clock stops in the last 2:00 of the game only *
* Game clock will continue to run in the last 2 minutes of the game if one team has a 20 point or greater lead.
PRESS RULES:
o Little Ballers Division - No Press
o Jr. Ballers Division - No press until the last 4 minutes of the game
o Ballers Division - No press until after halftime
o Big Ballers Division - Allowed to press all game
FOULS:
o 7 Team Fouls = 1 and 1; 10 Team Fouls = 2 shots
o Players do not foul out.
o Technical fouls count as personal fouls
o Player or coach is disqualified after 2nd technical foul
o Technical fouls result in (2) shots and the ball
FREE THROWS:
o Players can enter the lane when the ball is released.
TIEBREAKERS:
In the case of a tie, the following format will be used:
1. Head to Head
2. Point differential (if three or more teams have a tie record) with a maximum of 15 points
3. Points allowed
SPECTATOR BEHAVIOR
GSG requires that all parents and spectators maintain good sportsmanship throughout the course of the event. We promote a great youth sports atmosphere, and we encourage everyone to cheer and get loud and support their son or daughters team. But do not let it get out of control. As an adult, please set a good example for all the children at this great event. If you are asked to leave the event, your son or daughter may be asked to leave with you. Your team may also forfeit the game.
MISBEHAVIOR / EJECTIONS
1. Any coach ejected for fighting will be ineligible for the remainder of the tournament.
2. Athletes ejected for fighting are ineligible to participate in the team's next game. Additional penalties may be imposed
3. The Tournament Director may impose suspensions or other penalties for misbehavior which occur at any time and at any location during the event.
4. Coaches and athletes who engage in misbehavior may be subject to additional disciplinary action. Penalties may include suspension from future GSG Tournaments.
5. The Tournament Director has the final say on all suspensions
